The city of Dallas was founded in 1852 as the county seat of Paulding County. This city was later chartered in 1854 and named for George Mifflin Dallas, Vice President of the United States under President James Polk. As a region that was once the crossroads of Cherokee Indian Paths, the area became populated when the land’s abundance of natural springs began to draw the first settlers to the county. Today, Dallas’ 4,000 residents are proud of their prosperous city. In fact, the city’s motto reads, “On the Road to a Better Future.”
