TAX & LICENSE / PET LICENSING

California law requires that all dogs be licensed annually from age four months and older, and this licensing includes proof of current rabies vaccination. Vaccinations are also strongly recommended for cats, even in areas where they are not required to be licensed. Localities may impose additional animal-control laws that deal with licensing of cats, leashing dogs, controlling barking dogs, dangerous animals, and cleaning up animal waste matter. Check with your local animal control officer for complete details or contact one of these regional resources.
