WELCOME
HOME!
Welcome to the rolling hills, wooded expanses, attractive
suburbs and sprawling metropolitan center of the Delaware Valley. Ideally
located in the heart of the Northeast Corridor, this colorful and scenic cradle
of American history continues to be one of our nation’s most influential and
diverse areas.
Serving as the hub for the entire region is Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly
Love. From its cobblestoned streets and quaint Colonial neighborhoods to its
modern, towering skyline, what began as William Penn’s “greene countrietowne”
has evolved and grown into one of the nation’s most densely populated and
vibrant cities.
This dynamic blending of tourism, cultural treasures, historic sites and fine
restaurants is further enhanced by the diversity of rural, residential,
commercial and industrial areas. The sheer variety of lifestyles opportunities
is further enhanced by a dynamic business climate where major corporations,
entrepreneurs and government officials work together to reach common goals.
Services
Education and technology are integral to the overall economy. Among the 89 degree-granting institutions situated throughout the region are some of the best country’s most prestigious colleges and universities, including world-renowned teaching hospitals.
Considering the presence of medical and dental schools, medical equipment
manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies, institutions of advanced research, and
leading-edge hospitals - it is little wonder that the Delaware Valley region
enjoys such an outstanding reputation for healthcare excellence.
The Delaware Valley ranks second to none in transportation efficiencies on the
road, rail, air and sea. Thousands of miles of interstate, state and local
highways and roads move traffic so efficiently that one-day truck shipments are
possible with a 500-mile radius.
To the north, miles of Pennsylvania Turnpike combine with Interstate 95 and 476
and other high-speed thoroughfares. To the east is the New Jersey Turnpike, one
of 12 major highways that provide connections to the Pennsylvania Turnpike,
I-295, and I-95. A total of six bridges link Southern New Jersey to
Pennsylvania.
Commuters in this region can look to reasonably priced, comprehensive mass
transportation through an integrated network of subways, commuter trains, buses
and trolleys. SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) serves
over 75 million passengers each year on buses and rail cars. Southern New
Jersey and Philadelphia are connected via (PATCO) High-Speed Line and the New
Jersey Transit Bus Service. Amtrak, Conrail, and several other lines meet at
Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station.
The undeniable hub of air transportation for the region is the recently
expanded Philadelphia International Airport, where passengers embark on 2,000
daily flights to over 110 cities.
Lifestyle
The Delaware Valley provides more entertainment, natural beauty, and culture than could ever be absorbed in a lifetime. Recreation facilities are prolific in the area’s numerous parks, including the largest urban park in the United States - Philadelphia’s lush and famous 8,700 acre Fairmount Park.
The winding Delaware River and many lakes around the region provide a myriad of
water-sport opportunities, while vast forests beckon campers. Playgrounds,
sports fields, tennis courts, golf courses, swimming pools, and skating rinks
abound.
Center City Philadelphia and the entire surrounding countryside is a veritable
mecca of history, culture, and art. Both professional and community theaters,
galleries, museums, outdoor playhouses, off-Broadway productions, café
theaters, comedy clubs, starlight concerts, ballets, symphonies, music centers
- the choices are virtually unlimited.
Once a vortex of leadership and power in a burgeoning country, this region has
managed to remain one of our nation’s most vibrant and influential metropolitan
areas. From bustling urban centers to the tranquil countryside, the most valued
resource you’ll discover is the warm, friendly, accepting sprit of the people.
