Located in the center of West Tennessee between Nashville and Memphis, Madison County is home to just over 98,000 residents. The county contains many small communities and offers its residents a lifestyle that mixes rural charm and modern conveniences. The county seat is the City of Jackson, famous for its music and shopping.

Lifestyle
Recreational opportunities abound in this land-rich area. Golfers have the advantage of nearly year-round play on verdant and well-maintained courses. Tennis fans will find first-rate courts while organized sports are available for all age groups through local cities. Soccer, softball, baseball, and volleyball are just a few of the competitive sports that bring friends and neighbors together. Swimming, bicycling, hiking, picnicking, or just enjoying lush parks are all popular leisure activities. Although the world-class attractions of Nashville and Memphis are not far from home, the county has developed cultural amenities and special events. Jackson offers musical concerts, performing arts, county festivals and galleries. Antique districts blend with modern malls and shopping plazas throughout the county for an abundance of retail options. The Old Hickory Mall which is located in Jackson, features food, entertainment and shopping for the entire family with more than 70 specialty stores as well as national retailers. Downtown Jackson offers residents a broad selection of shops and restaurants as well as galleries and many other attractions.

The county is home to a vibrant arts community, mostly based in Jackson. Some of the many arts groups include: Ballet Arts, whose annual Christmas gift to the community is a production of “The Nutcracker,” complete with visiting professionals. Ballet Arts also has other performances each year. Jackson Art Association, home to the community’s visual artists. Jackson Theatre Guild, which involves community actors in several stage productions each year, including musicals. The Jackson Symphony offers a subscription series of seven classical and pops concerts, as well as several free concerts throughout the season.

Outdoor recreation is abundant in the county, with local and state parks as well as lakes and rivers all waiting to be explored.  The Madison County Recreation Department offers a variety of team sports, either directly or through citizens’ groups that use their facilities. The Madison County Recreation Department oversees four parks, a nature area, a former Civil War battlefield and an historic cemetery. Golfers can enjoy any of the three private golf courses or the five public courses in the area. Madison County is also home to the West TN Diamond Jaxx, the AA Affiliate of the Seattle Mariners who play their home games at Pringles Park in Jackson.

The good life in Madison County blends easy access to metropolitan amenities with homespun delights and local attractions. The urban lifestyle of Jackson, the friendly people, and a slower living pace combine with low property taxes and high property values for a superb quality of life. The regional economy of Madison County is reliant on a diverse mix of businesses from small service companies to larger industrial manufacturers. Residents will find a broad range of opportunities for employment in many fields.

Madison County affords outstanding educational opportunities at all levels. Public and private schools offer strong college preparatory, vocational and technical programs. Madison County Schools offer a variety of enrichment programs which take students beyond the normal curriculum. Academic enrichment in music, drama and art broaden the cultural awareness of local students and community. Accredited private schools that offer classes in kindergarten through grade twelve are also available.  Jackson-Madison County School district is comprised of 28 schools serving approximately 13,000 students in the county. There are 14 elementary schools (grades k-4,) four intermediate schools (grades 5-6,) four middle schools (grades 7-8) and five high schools(grades 9-12.) There is also a learning center magnet school. Higher Education is served by several institutions in and around the county including: Bethel University, Freed-Hardeman University and Union University all a short drive away. Jackson State Community College was established as the first community college in West Tennessee in 1967. With about 4,000 students, Jackson State has the largest enrollment of any college in Jackson the area. The University of Memphis Jackson Center is located on the campus of Jackson State Community College. The Center offers programs and courses at the bachelors and masters level.

Healthcare is well represented in the county with Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, a 635-bed tertiary care center. The only tertiary care hospital between Memphis and Nashville, the hospital serves a 17-county area of rural West Tennessee. Within the county General Hospital, there exists six ‘centers of excellence’: the Tennessee Heart and Vascular Center, Kirkland Cancer Center, West Tennessee Women’s Center, West Tennessee Rehabilitation Center, West Tennessee Neuroscience and Spine, and Emergency Services. Each center has an historic reputation of ‘high-tech, high-touch’ skills. The community is also served by the Regional Hospital of Jackson a 150 bed full service hospital, covering all major specialty areas with more than 85 active physicians.

Jackson is located directly on I-40 midway between Memphis and Nashville. Jackson is in the center of West Tennessee and is home to more than 65,000 residents. Jackson is known for its big city flair and small town charm, while enjoying a colorful history that is celebrated by its residents. The Jackson downtown area is full of life and exciting shops and restaurants, a vibrant music scene and much more. Jackson’s variety of dining options will entice you with everything from BBQ to Asian cuisine. Find a diverse wine selection and imaginative cuisine at one of Jackson’s many fine dining establishments. Jackson has a diverse assortment of shopping options for the bargain hunter as well as the trendy. Old Hickory Mall and The Columns feature department stores and a wide selection of specialty stores and restaurants. For those looking to explore the many quaint shops or the eclectic variety of art galleries and unique shops, Jackson has plenty to offer. Whether your pleasure is fishing, hiking, golfing, boating, or simply relaxing in the sunshine, Jackson is an outdoor enthusiast’s haven. Residents spend time on the water at Lake Graham, the nearby Tennessee River, or Pickwick Lake or attend a special event such as Casey Jones Day or the Shannon Street Blues and Heritage Festival.  Or they can take a quiet walk on the boardwalk at Cypress Grove Nature Park, or one of Jackson’s other beautiful parks or even visit a Civil War battlefield, or hit the links on one of Jackson’s challenging golf courses.

For those looking to be a spectator more than a participant, Jackson is also home to the West TN Diamond Jaxx, the AA Affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. Enjoy home games and fireworks from April – September at Pringles Park, a 6,200 seat stadium and home to more than 70 home games for the team. And for those who like to participate, there are plenty of opportunities with organized sports ranging from youth leagues to adult leagues to high school and college teams. The new West Tennessee Healthcare Sports-Plex is located on approximately 65 acres adjacent to Pringles Park. It includes a total of 17 fields used for both baseball and softball. In addition the Jackson’s Recreation & Parks Department provides active and passive recreation, athletics, and cultural enhancement, for all ages, interests and levels of ability. The parks department takes care of more than 24 parks, recreation/community centers and historic sites.

Residents can enjoy outstanding art and entertainment in this musically oriented city. The Jackson Symphony is in its 46th season of providing musical programs. The orchestra and its affiliated ensembles perform for over 30,000 people each year. The Symphony employs 65-70 musicians who perform 13 annual full orchestra performances, including a seven-concert subscription series.  Several annual festivals including the Shannon Street Blues & Heritage Festival, First weekend in June, West Tennessee Farmer’s Market. This fundraiser for Jackson Downtown Development Corporation draws nearly 5,000 patrons into downtown to listen to great blues music. A barbecue cooking contest and 5K run are held in conjunction with the music festival. The Rockabilly Fest features approximately 150 artists each year that perform more than 32 hours of music during the weekend event. Annual sports events as well as several seasonal festivals can also be found to entertain the family.

Education is critical in the community with a strong emphasis given to the school system. Jackson and Madison County have a consolidated school system with a curriculum that emphasizes science and arts as well as a comprehensive vocational training program at the senior high level. There are also three K-12 private schools and a K-10 private school. Higher educational opportunities are available close to home with several institutions nearby, including the Jackson State Community College, Bethel University and several others a short drive away.

Jackson offers families a great lifestyle in a small city that has managed to hang on to its southern heritage and small town charm. With music, food, shopping, recreation and education all close to home residents don’t have to leave to find what they need. Jackson has it all for them.

Three Way is located in the heart of West Tennessee where Hwy. 45 branches into Hwy. 45E and Hwy. 45W, hence the name Three Way Three Way City is a thriving community of friendly neighborhoods with family style values, and a small-town feel with all the conveniences of Jackson only a few minutes away. The community is home to 2000 residents who enjoy a quiet lifestyle in this mostly rural area. The community’s residential development is the leading form of growth in the last 10 years, expanding the population by more than 30 percent in that time period. Along with the influx of new residents, commercial development has increased as well. New restaurants and retail businesses make Three Way an attractive place for people to live, relocate, or visit.  While a relatively young city, Three Way has a rich history and a strong sense of hometown pride. Several events are held each year to commemorate the town’s history and promote fellowship between our residents. Community dinners, Labor Day events, and an annual festival are all examples of ways that the City of Three Way maintains a small-town atmosphere.

The community is home to a city park with walking trail and pavilion. The walking trail has various routes, the outer most route being one-third mile. Decorative lighting is installed along the trail. The pavilion has restrooms, picnic tables, and adjoining grills. The lake at the rear of the park has a fountain. Park benches are placed at various intervals along the walking trail. Additional picnic tables are located at several locations inside the park. With its proximity to Jackson and Humboldt, Three Way offers its residents all of the pleasures of small town living with close proximity to all of the amenities they could need.
