Founded in 1784, Clarksville is one of the South’s most historic cities. The city is a treasure trove of memorable attractions, wondrous architecture, and a medley of colorful festivals. Second only to Memphis and Nashville on the list of Tennessee’s fastest growing cities, Clarksville manages to harmonize pride in its rich heritage with a progressive attitude to offer a vibrant urban environment. As the home of Austin Peay State University, the city is alive with night spots, restaurants, cafes, shops, and convenient services. Adding charm to the cityscape are the churning waters created by massive tow boats and paddle wheelers on the Cumberland River. The mild climate with four distinct seasons, a centralized location, and attractive but affordable housing are just a few of the reasons that Clarksville is consistently ranked as a desirable community by publications like Reader’s Digest, Money Magazine, Demographics Journal, Expansion Management, and Forbes.
