Private Education

In addition to providing a quality   public education system, the Greater Richmond region is home to a selection of independent schools, both parochial and private. Most of these independent schools are accredited through two organizations: the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS) and/or the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The Virginia Council for Private Education or VCPE oversees accreditation of nonpublic preschools as well as elementary and secondary schools in the Commonwealth. The VCPE website offers a directory of accredited schools as well as those member schools that are non-accredited.
