Distinguished as a region that lies primarily beneath the waters of the Great Salt Lake, Davis County even includes an island in the middle of the lake—Antelope Island. Residential communities cover most of the remaining real estate, each one offering a unique flavor and personality. Nestled in the very heart of Utah’s scenic Wasatch Front, this area offers an ideal, centralized location. The array of urban advantages and amenities in Salt Lake City and Ogden can be easily accessed from anywhere in Davis County. Add the ingredients of an idyllic climate and welcoming communities, and the capacity for economic and residential growth becomes even clearer.

With the magnificent Wasatch Mountains towering in the East and the Great Salt Lake to the West, Davis County is a land of spectacular views and superb recreational opportunities. Considering how much of the county is covered in water, the county claims the smallest land mass of any in the state. Still, Davis is one of the most populated of Utah’s counties, enjoying a trend of growth and expansion that promises to continue.

Economy & Services
Davis County enjoys a robust economy, distinguished as one of Utah’s highest revenue producers in the areas of industry, trade, and agricultural activity. The area is home to some of the state’s finest businesses, including Hill Air Force Base—Utah’s largest employer. A number of expansive industrial parks include the Freeport Center and adjacent Freeport West, ranking among the largest private industrial centers in the entire nation. Highway accessibility benefits the residential sector and area industry. The north/south thoroughfare of Interstate 15 provides easy access to Interstate 80 and other major highways throughout the state. The expanded air travel facilities of Salt Lake International Airport are less than 30 minutes from any location in the county, and private pilots can utilize the local airport. The Utah Transit Authority offers mass transit service along the Wasatch Front.

With an hour’s drive from Davis County, residents will find four major universities: The University of Utah, Weber State University, Utah State University, and Brigham Young University. College-level courses are also available locally at conveniently located educational centers and university extensions.

Quality medical care encompasses a complete array of specializations and support organizations. Specialties at the hospital include maternity care, cardiology services, physical therapy, and a senior’s association. Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful provides another state-of-the-art healthcare institution with comprehensive services that are supported by a network of skilled physicians and convenient clinics.

Some of the nation’s premier downhill ski resorts are just an hour’s drive away. In the warm summer months, lakes invite boating and water sports, while Antelope Island State Park is ideal for parasailing, biking, hiking, picnicking, and camping. Havens of natural beauty abound, from the Farmington Bay Wildlife Bird Refuge to forested canyon of Mueller Park east of Bountiful. When the sun sets on the city, wonderful venues come alive with outstanding performances and special events. Davis County’s strong cultural community is further enhanced by the close proximity of community and collegiate venues in Salt Lake City and Ogden. Woods Cross City lies near the bottom of the Great Salt Lake Basin, just seven miles north of Salt Lake City. The approximately 6,000 residents of this community enjoy a quiet and relaxed way of life that they fiercely protect, this can be seen by the lack of high density housing and development. Instead housing choices are more in line with single family and low density living. The LDS chapel, the park, and the city hall form the central hub of the town with smaller local businesses and industry ringing the edges of the city. Many new residents have selected Woods Cross as a place to raise their families because of its more relaxed nature. With such a short drive to everything that Salt Lake City has to offer, this community had become a quiet retreat for urban workers who want their families to enjoy an enhanced quality of life – but also want the convenience of a major urban center.
