Known as the “heart of historic Route 66,” historic Kingman in Mohave County was founded in 1882 in the beautiful Hualapai Valley between the Cerbat and Hualapai mountain ranges. From its simple roots as a railroad siding near Beale’s Springs, the city offers a well-balanced community of residential and business sectors. Newcomers can look forward to a highly rated hospital and other medical facilities, vibrant retail areas, quality schools, and opportunities for a higher education just beyond the front door. Mohave Community College provides a wide variety of two-year certification programs and degrees but also houses a branch of Northern Arizona University for upper-level degree programs. Kingman provides a pleasing mix of older homes and newer construction. Famous historic properties abound in this area, including the Bonelli House, Locomotive Park, and the Powerhouse Visitor’s Center that now houses the chamber of commerce and historic attractions.
