Quality of Life<\/strong>
\nNestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Bartow County is the gateway to the Northwest Georgia’s “High country.” The county was named in 1861 for Francis Bartow, a fallen Confederate war hero. The area was once home to “carpet alley,” a primarily self-contained agricultural mill and mining region. Today, Bartow County benefits from a diverse industrial base and rapidly developing corridor. Offering convenient access to I-75, many county residents commute to the metro Atlanta area for work.<\/p>\n

The City of Cartersville houses a local airport offering a lighted runway, enclosed hangars, fuel services, and minor repair. Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport, located just 50 miles southeast of Cartersville, meets commercial air service needs.<\/p>\n

Adairsville was incorporated in 1854 and named for Chief John Adair, a Scottish settler. A historic community nestled in the Oothcalooga Valley, Adairsville was the first Georgia town to be listed in its entirety on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, many of pre-Civil War homes and churches stand alongside elegant Victorian structures in the city\u2019s spectacular 170-acre historic district. The streets are also brimming with inviting antique shops, boutiques, and fine restaurants.
