The small, historic city of Flovilla is the proud home of Indian Springs State Park, one of the nation’s oldest parks. Nestled in southern Butts County, Flovilla provides an intimate community atmosphere where neighbors stop to chat on the street or wave at each other from front porch swings. Recreational amenities are exceptional, with the state park offering 523 acres of facilities and lush open space. A number of camping options including cottages, a beach and 105-acre lake, boat ramp, miniature golf course, picnic shelters, pedal and fishing boat rentals, and a Native American museum are among the amenities and attractions. Serving as the seat of county government as well as the hub of education, culture, and healthcare for the region, Jackson is a small but well-developed city. One of the historic and recreational highlights is the 995-acre High Falls State Park, preserving the remnants of a former 1800s industrial town. A scenic waterfall hike along the Towaliga River leads to the gristmill foundation or the 650-acre lake.
