Georgia<\/strong>
\nTo register in Georgia, you must be a U.S. citizen, a legal resident of Georgia and the county in which you wish to vote, and at least 18 years of age by election day. Residents may sign up to vote at anytime, but must be registered 28 days prior in order to vote on election day. Georgia citizens have convenient access to several methods of registering to vote including online forms at the Georgia Secretary of State’s website. Mail-in forms are available at all county board of registrars’ offices, public libraries, schools, and other government offices. “Motor Voter” registration allows residents to register when applying for or renewing a driver’s license. Georgia conveniently offers “advance voting,” allowing registered voters to cast a ballot in person at the county voter registration office during the week prior to an election. \nSouth Carolina
\n<\/strong>South Carolina offers a progressive voting system that requires newcomers to register at least 30 days prior to the election. To be eligible, you must be a U.S. citizen in good standing, a resident of South Carolina in the county and precinct in which you intend to vote, and at least 18 years of age before the next election. You may complete a voter registration form and return it to your county offices, complete the form at the motor vehicle office, or visit your county board of voter registration in person.<\/p>\n

At the voting booth, must present your voter registration certificate, a valid South Carolina driver’s license, or a South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles issued photo identification card. Residents who were not qualified to vote in the first election for failure to register 30 days prior to an election are not qualified to vote in that election’s subsequent run-off. If physical handicap or age keeps a voter from entering a polling place, he or she may vote outside that polling place in the closest available parking area utilizing the vehicle in which he has driven or has been driven to the polls.
