Off of the golf courses and throughout the communities, the region boasts some of the finest resorts and amenities in the state. For residents of this county there are a host of local amenities and services that make life easy. There are great schools, shopping dining and a host of outdoor activities to be found. And just like all of North Carolina, the towns and communities of Moore County maintain that small town charm that comes to be expected of this area.<\/p>\n

\n<\/b><\/strong>Moore County offers all the pleasures of country living, with all the benefits of a resort community. County public schools provide a quality education on primary and secondary levels. Sandhills Community College offers residents the opportunity to further their education through a variety of programs. Central Carolina Community College provides a campus in nearby Harnett County, making it possible for residents to launch a degree both conveniently and affordably.<\/p>\n

Several other community and technical colleges are available in neighboring counties. More than a dozen other colleges and universities are available within an hour’s commute of Harnett County. Included on the list are three major research universities: Duke University in Durham, the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University in Raleigh.<\/p>\n

Set in a landscape of long leaf pines, dominated by world renowned golfing facilities is the town of Aberdeen. This town which was originally named Blue’s Crossing was settled in the 1700’s by Scottish emigrants. The town boasts something for everyone, including historic railroad fanatics, colonial era history buffs and of course golfers. The town embraces its history as a railroad town and offers all the charm that a small town can provide. Residents and newcomers alike will find plenty to see and do.

Cameron started its life as a shipping point for regional farmers thanks in large part to the railroad. The town was incorporated in 1876. The town was a bustling commercial center with shops, a millstone company and turpentine distilleries. Today Cameron is the antique capital of the Sandhills region. Many of Cameron’s historic homes have antique shops and tearooms in them. The town also boasts two Antique and Collectibles Fairs, one held on the first Saturday in May and the other the first Saturday in October.

Carthage, the county seat for Moore County, was incorporated in 1776.\u00a0 Carthage has the all of the features that one would expect in a small town in the South. The people show concern for their neighbors, the town has safe streets and a sense of community. Moore County is also a popular retirement destination thanks to the pleasant year round climate and excellent medical facilities. Carthage is the fastest growing municipality in Moore County and one of the 20 fastest growing municipalities in all of North Carolina. Foxfire Village was incorporated by an act of the North Carolina State Legislature in 1977, began as a golf resort.\u00a0 Located just to the west of Pinehurst, the Village surrounds two 18 hole golf courses. The Village is home to beautiful homes situated on large lots, surrounded by the long leaf pines that region is famous for. Foxfire Village is a resort community that is meticulously shepherded by its residents and Village Council which help it maintain its position as a premier residential community. This care, combined with the spectacular weather of the region help to make this a location that residents and visitors alike enjoy throughout the year.<\/p>\n

The town of Robbins is located in northwest Moore County, ten miles from the very center of North Carolina. Robbins is twelve miles from the County seat of Carthage, and 35 miles south of Asheboro. The area has a history in textiles and the pottery industry, a quaint and unique industry that has its roots in the clay soil of the region, which is geologically different than the rest of Moore County. Robbins is a small town that takes great pride in that fact. Its residents are proud of its long heritage and safe, friendly community feel.

Located o quick 40 minutes northwest of Fayetteville, Southern Pines boasts a climate\u00a0that allows for year round activities, with daytime highs in the mid 40\u2019s in winter and in the mid 80\u2019s in summer. Located in the Sandhills area of Moore County, which is world renowned for its golf course and pine trees, the Village of Pinehurst was originally designed by James Walker Tufts,<\/b><\/strong> its founder as a New England style village. This design was created to add that sense of small town charm that those New England Villages are known for. Pinehurst enjoys international recognition as a golf resort. It is home to the famous Pinehurst golf resorts. The Village of Pinehurst and Pinehurst Resorts were given National Landmark status in 1996 for their role in U. S. golf history. There are 43 golf courses within minutes of Pinehurst. Besides its golfing facilities, The Village of Pinehurst maintains park facilities for residents to enjoy; Cannon Park, which has recreational facilities, ball fields and a children\u2019s playground, and Rassie Wicker Park, the location of the Village Hall and Police Department. Much like the rest of the communities in Moore County \u2013 Pinehurst has the same hometown feel and loyal residents who enjoy calling it home.

Whispering Pines is a residential community in the Sandhills area of Moore County,\u00a0an area known for its mild climate and lifestyle.\u00a0 The Village was founded in 1959 and was the first to be incorporated under the laws of North Carolina. Whispering Pines residents are dedicated to maintaining the Village environment and close knit feel of the community that they live in. In addition the Village has very detailed planning and zoning laws that are designed to make sure that the feel of the Village stays true to what residents expect. Also in the Village of Whispering Pines, is a country club with two championship golf courses, clubhouse with dining rooms, bar and pro shop, tennis courts and swimming pool. Membership to this country club is optional for property owners within Whispering Pines.
