The community is considered to be a part of the Inner  Banks region, although the area is also referred to as the Currituck Outer  Banks. The only land access to Knotts Island is from Virginia Beach  using Princess Anne Road, although a free ferry is available in the town of  Currituck. This island community is characterized as a hunting and fishing  leisure destination with numerous duck hunting blinds on land and in the bay. The  community is also situated at the end of the Chesapeake Expressway toll road  just a short drive from Norfolk, Virginia. Because of its location and  surrounding transportation efficiencies, this small community has been experiencing  rapid growth as an emerging bedroom community for Hampton Roads. Another feather  in the cap of Moyock is the presence of a number of facilities relating to  Blackwater Worldwide, the world&#8217;s largest private training and security company  with government and non-government clients. The company headquarters stretch  over 7,000 acres to provide training for the United States military and police  forces among others.
