The district constantly explores innovative curricula that integrate  hands-on mathematics, science activities, and whole-language approaches at the  elementary level. Middle schools offer advancements like technology labs and  are focused on meeting the specialized academic and emotional needs of  adolescents.<\/p>\n<p>High schools provide many extracurricular activities, career, and vocational  training, and high-tech proficiency. Approximately two-thirds of the seniors in  the Clark County School District go on to pursue some form of post-secondary  education. Both SAT and ACT scores for the district equal or surpass national  averages in all academic areas. The district is known for its gifted and  talented scholars of distinction, its many advanced placement and international  baccalaureate programs, and vocational or occupational programs that are  available in a diversity of specializations.<\/p>\n<p>Programs in computer literacy, self-esteem education, and substance abuse  prevention include the Horizon Project, coordinating programs for high risk and  dropout-prevention strategies. Driver\u2019s licenses are not acceptable. If you are living with a  friend or relative, you must bring a notarized statement signed by you and the  owner\/renter of the property where you are staying, indicating that it is your  current place of residence. You will also need proof of the child\u2019s identity in  the form of a legal birth certificate, passport or baptismal certificate. No  photo copies can be accepted.<\/p>\n<p>Updated medical information includes physician-signed records indicating that  your child has had, or at least has started, a series of immunizations against  DPT, polio, measles, mumps and rubella in the prescribed intervals. The school  your child will be attending will need to know about any previous placement in  a special program or class and a recent report card or document that shows the  name and address of the last school attended. Also helpful would be your  child\u2019s latest achievement test scores and complete information about any  disability or health problems.<\/p>\n<p>Bus service is provided to all students who live more than two miles from their  schools, and hot lunches are available for purchase at all schools. Starting  and ending times for the school day can vary. Some of the school districts in  this area follow a year-round schedule instead of closing over the summer  months.
