Kentucky Pet Laws
The Commonwealth of Kentucky does not mandate a state license for dogs, although cities and counties impose their own regulations. The state does require that every dog, cat, and ferret be vaccinated against rabies before the pet reaches the age of four months. Dogs must wear metal tags that correspond to the vaccination certificate; cats and ferrets are not required to wear tags but the owners must be prepared to show proof of a valid rabies vaccination upon request.
