ACADEMICS \/ PUBLIC EDUCATION SYSTEM<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kentucky Public School System<\/strong>
\nChildren must be at least five years of age by October 1 of the enrollment year in order to register for kindergarten in Kentucky. Required documentation for enrollment includes a legal birth certificate, the child’s social security number, proof of residency, a Kentucky certificate of immunization, and a health exam dated within one year prior to school entry. Another health exam is required within one year prior to entry to sixth grade. Proof of an eye exam must be documented on the Kentucky Eye Exam form as well. Transferring students must comply with the state\u2019s immunization laws within a two-week grace period. Registration is held at the school the child will be attending, although it is not necessary that the child be present at registration. Indiana Public School System<\/strong>
\nChildren must be at least five years of age by July 1 of the enrollment year in order to register for kindergarten. Some school districts offer early registration of students who do not meet the age requirement; check with your local district for further information. A legally certified birth certificate, official immunization records, proof of residency, the child’s social security number (custody or guardianship papers if applicable) are all required for registration. Transferring students should bring records from the previous school or a registrar contact. New students receive a grace period of 30 days to comply with immunization requirements, although newcomers are urged to register prior to the opening of school.
