The county seat of LaGrange offers a unique sense of history that contrasts effortlessly with the convenience of modern city living. Located in southern Oldham County just across the Jefferson County border, Pewee Valley is characterized as a rapidly growing suburban area that works diligently to maintain the look, feeling, and ambiance of a small town. Begun as a small settlement in the early 1800s on the road from Louisville to Brownsboro, the town began to take shape in 1851 when the railroad brought wealthy settlers who built country estates. At that time, the settlement was known as \u201cSmith\u2019s Station.\u201d A picturesque and tight-knit community gradually developed, and citizens renamed their town after the pewee bird.
