Located along U.S. Highway 70 northeast of Lubbock in the High Plains of the Panhandle, rural Floyd County features Floydada as the county seat and largest town. This agriculturally rich area covers 992 square miles of primarily flat land interrupted by the striking geographic features of the Caprock Escarpment and rolling plains to the east and Blanco Canyon and White River to the south. Other major thoroughfares that serve the area include U.S. Highway 62 and Texas State Highway 207. The nearest commercial airline service is approximately 55 miles away at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport in Lubbock County.<\/p>\n
