Situated on the High Plains of Texas in the southern section of the South Plains, rural Lynn County lies just to the west of the Caprock Escarpment. Covering 915 square miles, this region features sandy loam and black\/grey soils along with a growing season of 217 days that support large-scale cotton farming and ranching. These expansive flatlands are interrupted only by an occasional draw or playa and two year-round bodies of water: Double Lakes and Tahoka Lake.
