TAX & LICENSE / HUNTING & FISHING LICENSE

Fishing & Hunting Licenses
State licenses are required for all persons at least 15 years of age who want to hunt large and small game in season and those who want to fish in any inland waters. Licenses are issued by a city or town clerk or qualified retail outlets. Fees are based on the type of license, your residency status, and the duration of the license. Locations of license sources, current fees, and further information on hunter and boating education courses are available from:

The bureau is also responsible for motorboat titling, which is mandatory for all vessels 14 feet or greater in length that are designed for use with an engine. Registration by mail is encouraged, although four regional offices and a Boston headquarters office are also available.
