\n<\/strong>Somerset County is home to some of Pennsylvania’s most popular vacation destinations and recreational areas, including Hidden Valley Four Seasons Resort, Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Forbes State Forest, and Laurel Hill State Park. Both resorts are four-season playgrounds, and Seven Springs has been rated among the top 50 ski areas in North America. As the only community with an entrance to the Pennsylvania Turnpike within its boundaries, Somerset serves as the hub of the county. Somerset Borough is less than 3 square miles in area, although the township provides a rich selection of homesites and possibilities for development. Two state highways are also routed through the area, and three major vacation resorts are less than 30 minutes away. Locally, residents enjoy lush parks, sports fields, tennis courses, and fitness centers. The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is only 25 miles from home, and healthcare needs are met in the local hospital. The retail sector is enjoying new vitality after a successful renaissance and revitalization project.
