You must be a resident of the state for 50 days preceding the  election, except for new residents voting for President only. No person may  vote in an election unless registered to vote prior to midnight of the 29th day  before the date of that election. Registration is available through your county  department of elections. You may also register at courts and driver&#8217;s license  bureaus. The League of Women Voters and both major political parties conduct  registration at their offices, at major shopping malls, and various  neighborhood locations.<\/p>\n<p>Changing your name, address, or party preference requires another  registration. Anyone who fails to vote in a general election in an even  numbered year will receive a card from the county recorder by February 1 of the  following year. This card must be signed and returned by April 1st to avoid  re-registration. Arizona is an &#8220;open&#8221; primary state. Voters  registered with a recognized political party may vote in the primary election  in even years.
