Nestled along the Ohio River in southeastern Indiana, Dearborn County encompasses some of the state’s oldest original territory and most significant historic architecture. The unincorporated area of Bright is the fastest-growing of Dearborn County’s communities and sprawls over Harrison, Logan, and Miller townships in the northeastern part of the county. In fact, Bright is one of the most rapidly developing areas in all of Indiana. The population has increased nearly 65 percent within the past decade and projections call for another 30 percent jump within the next five years. Settled in the 1800s as a farming community, the area began transforming into a modern bedroom community with the completion of Interstate 275. Winding lands, heavily wooded lots, and lush hills preserve a rural flavor and create scenic backdrops for lovely new homes. Many newcomers are willing to trade a longer drive to work for the affordability of truly attractive housing and the richness of the area’s natural beauty. The annual Bright Parade and Firemen’s Festival each summer is a major attraction.

The upscale residential community of Hidden Valley Lake is an unincorporated community that was developed around the centerpiece of a 150-acre lake that is 120 feet deep and offers four miles of shoreline. Panoramic wooded hills and valleys contribute to the community’s breathtaking beauty and undeniable appeal. Many of the homes have been built on the shore of the lake or along the 18-hole PGA golf course. Others are set back on deeply wooded lots that provide a luxurious sense of seclusion and serenity. The opening of the Argosy Casino had the positive influence of driving revitalization in the county seat of Lawrenceburg, although the community still draws newcomers to a small-town spirit in spite of rapid growth. The housing selection in Lawrenceburg is somewhat divided by area, with the newer construction clustered in Ludlow Hill.
