Davie County has a population of just over 40,000 residents. Mocksville, the county seat and the largest town in Davie County, is a historic town that was incorporated in 1839. Other incorporated towns in the county include Cooleemee, incorporated in 1985, and Bermuda Run, incorporated in 1999. Other townships include Calahain, Clarksville, Farmington, Fulton, Jerusalem, and Shady Grove.

That civic commitment is evidenced by public/private partnerships for establishing a satellite campus of the Davidson County Community College, an outstanding YMCA facility, the Brock Performing Arts Center and the Davie County Library, including its Martin/Wall History Room.

Services
The county is and has always been primarily an agricultural area. The top agriculture products grown in Davie County include: milk, beef cattle, poultry products, timber, flue-cured tobacco, greenhouse and nursery products, soybeans and corn. Portions of Davie County are located in the Yadkin Valley AVA, an American Viticulture Area. Wines made from grapes grown in the Yadkin Valley AVA may use the appellation Yadkin Valley on their labels.
The County affords outstanding educational opportunities at all levels. Public and private schools offer strong college preparatory, vocational and technical programs. Madison County Schools offer a variety of enrichment programs which take students beyond the normal curriculum. Academic enrichment in music, drama and art broaden the cultural awareness of local students and community. Accredited private schools that offer classes in kindergarten through grade twelve are also available. Davie County is served by Davie County Schools.
Health care is a priority in the County and is well represented by an excellent full-service hospital, healthcare facilities and human service agencies that offer a continuum of care, resources and support to meet the physical, mental and developmental needs of the community. The county is served by the Davie County Hospital, located in Mocksville, NC, a public not-for-profit Critical Access Hospital. The facility offers inpatient nursing services, emergency care, and a range of healthcare services including: Neurology, Orthopedics, Podiatry, General Surgery, Pain Management, and Cardiology. The Hospital is an affiliate of North Carolina Baptist Hospital

Incorporated in 1839, the Town of Mocksville has a population of over 5,000. As the largest municipality in Davie County, Mocksville serves as the county seat. Citizens here enjoy a high quality of life in a diversified community with an optimal mix of residential neighborhoods, historic shopping districts, arts & entertainment venues and recreational amenities. Education with state of the art technology pre-K thru early college, civic clubs, recreational activities, performing arts and community spirit are all part of living in this community. Downtown Mocksville is part of the national Main Street Program, which is part of the National Register for Historic Places. In downtown Mocksville, antique, specialty and novelty gift shops occupy restored buildings; restaurants and offices are within easy strolling distance, and you can pause under the shade of our impressive four giant oak trees on the square. Visitors and residents enjoy the craftsmanship of artisans on the square and other shopping areas. Bermuda Run is situated just off Interstate 40 on the eastern end of Davie County. With a population of just over 1,500 residents, the Town enjoys the benefits of a small town atmosphere while being conveniently located within minutes of Winston-Salem. The Town of Bermuda Run incorporated July 1, 1999 as a fully gated residential community. As a result of an annexation in November of 2000, the town added an open commercial area to the gated residential area. The Town owns and maintains nearly 7 miles of roadway and provides services such as sanitary sewer, road maintenance, snow removal, street lighting, law enforcement, planning and zoning and water. In addition the Town owns the Town post office, a central collection area for the residential mail.

Cooleemee is a small community 26 miles SW of Winston-Salem and 43 miles N of Charlotte. Cooleemee is home to around 1000 residents who enjoy a traditional small town way of life. It’s a community where residents are neighborly and newcomers easily fit into the pace of life. Streets are lined with mature trees and well kept homes of every variety. There is a strong sense of community priced and local support, civic groups, churches and elected officials work together to undertake improvements and set goals for its future. Education is supported in the town and Cooleemee Elementary School is known for its excellent teaching staff and use of modern technology. Local children are enriched with an outstanding heritage program, with a hands-on history lesson for every grade. South Davie Middle School serves Cooleemee and Davie County High School is filled with both school spirit and outstanding academic achievement
The town offers residents many facilities for outdoor recreation and weekend afternoons often see a family gathering at the Marginal Street Playground. Or residents can enjoy music or an outdoor movie on the historic Zachary house grounds. “The Holler” park is a beautiful wooded spot with several natural springs. Softball league games draw people to cheer and The Town has just established a recreation department to organize sports and other activities for local youth.
