La Paz County Profile

Carved out of Yuma County in 1983, La Paz County is anchored by the county seat of Parker. The county’s rugged landscape and the rolling Colorado River make this area a magnet for tourism, although agriculture still plays a significant role in the regional economy. Other major industries include retail and wholesale trade, services, finance, insurance, and real estate.

Parker is the largest of the county’s communities. Other small cities or towns include Bouse, Ehrenberg, Quartzsite, and Salome/Wenden. Part of La Paz County is devoted to the Colorado River Indian Reservation.

Mohave County Profile

The second largest county in Arizona in area, Mohave County is primarily classified as desert. However, 158 square miles of the county are water. With 1,000 miles of panoramic shoreline, this area well-known for water sports. The Colorado River and the man-made lakes of Lake Mohave and Lake Havasu continue to play an important role in the regional economy and the growth patterns of Bullhead and Lake Havasu cities. Major industries include retail trade, service, public administration, transportation and public utilities, finance, insurance, and real estate.

Lake Havasu City and Bullhead City are the largest communities in Mohave County, followed by Kingman. The remaining incorporated community is Colorado City, although the unincorporated New Kingman/Butler area north of Kingman claims a growing population.
