TAX & LICENSE / STATE TAX SYSTEM
Individual Income Tax
Virginia imposes a state income tax on a graduated scale similar to that used by the federal government, where credits and deductions apply and the rate is dependent upon your filing status and income level. The minimum income level where it is not necessary to file income tax forms is $7,000 and $14,000 for married couples. May 1 is the due date for filing.
