Services
Expectations are strong for Parker County to experience a rapid rise in population over the next two decades, fueled by the region’s prime location for suburban sprawl from Forth Worth into formerly rural areas. Residents of this area already enjoy a blend of first-rate services and amenities in the leading City of Weatherford as well as Fort Worth. Quality education in public and private schools include the campus for Weatherford College, established in 1869 and distinguished as oldest continuing community college in the Southwest. The college serves more than 3,500 students in addition to an Internet community of on-line students. Other institutions that are convenient to Parker County residents are Tarrant County Junior College, Texas Christian University, and Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth; and the University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington.

While Fort Worth provides state-of-the-art healthcare in such respected medical centers as All Saints Episcopal Hospital and Harris Methodist Hospital, newcomers will discover a wealth of programs and services locally at Campbell Hospital. Located in Weatherford, this 99-bed, acute-care hospital provides advanced care in a friendly, comforting environment. Comprehensive inpatient and outpatient surgery, a rehabilitation unit, intensive care unit, laboratory, advance imaging, a home health agency, and health care clinics in two locations are part of the extensive services. Campbell Health System has expanded cancer care in conjunction with UT Southwestern Moncrief Cancer Center, enabling local residents to access radiation and chemotherapy close to home.

Lifestyle
Balancing a high quality of life with a favorable cost of living, Parker County looks to the City of Weatherford as its focal point for culture, healthcare, higher education, commerce, and agribusiness. With Interstate 20 and two major federal highways available to commuters, Parker County has attracted many residents who are employed in Fort Worth but desire to return to a country haven each evening. Excellent transportation facilities continue to draw new business and industry to the region as well, increasing the possibility of local employment.

Wonderful museums like the Texas Railroad Museum and the H. B. Prather Museum preserve the local heritage, which is also showcased in colorful annual events like the Spring Festival Tour of Homes & Parade, Frontier Days, Days & Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo, and the Goodnight Loving Festival. Oliver Loving is one of many famous cattle drivers and notorious cowboys who played a role in shaping the county. The largest one-day event is the Parker County Peach Festival, honoring the county’s title as “Peach Capital of Texas.” Water sports on Lake Weatherford, golfing on velvet courses, or participating in parks and recreation activities are just a few of the pastimes. From its remarkable vintage architecture to vibrant new residential communities, Parker County is maturing as a suburban destination.

The adjacent cities of Annetta, Annetta North, and Annetta South represent a growing residential community of approximately 3,000 total residents. For most of the 20th century, the Annetta area was characterized as a population center that provided education and churches to the farmers and their families who lived in the surrounding countryside. The number of people actually living in Annetta was only 50 until the late 1970s. Dramatic growth in nearby Fort Worth began to spill into this area, spurring the construction of new homes. By the 1980s, the northern and southern sections of the community split off to form small independent cities. Newcomers to The Annettas will discover friendly and warm hometowns where families can thrive in the relaxed pace and intimate community spirit.
