Served by a strong network of community colleges, residents can affordably launch a four-year degree, continue their education, gain specialized training and skills, or just learn a new hobby. A variety of four-year public and private colleges and universities are available close to home that offer every degree from associate to doctorate and professional in hundreds of disciplines. Virginia is home to 100 colleges and universities, 15 public four-year institutions, 24 two-year institutions, and more than 52 private institutions.
