The Meade County Adult Education Program and the Bluegrass State Skills Corporation add the available education resources.

Lifestyle
Meade County is a paradise for those who appreciate the pleasures of country living and outdoor adventures. Many of the smaller communities that still thrive in this area were originally established in the late 1700s or early 1800s, adding to the strong feeling of community pride and sense of place. Much of Meade County is still devoted to agricultural activity, and agribusiness is the largest employment sector. The mild weather and rich kaleidoscope of seasonal beauty make this area a popular place for retirees and families in all stages. Rain rather than snow is the rule in Meade County, where lovely hills covered with abundant greenery and magnificent trees offer a natural playground.

More than 55 miles of the county’s northern side is bordered by the Ohio River, and the county seat of Brandenburg boasts more riverfront acreage than another Kentucky municipality. Lush parks that range from three acres to 3,000 acres dot the county with green space and sports facilities including boat ramps. Popular pastimes include hiking, biking, camping, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, boating, and water sports. Golfers will find a welcome challenge at the Doe Valley Golf Club, where scenic tree-lined fairways combine with sand drops and water hazards for a truly playable course. Hillcrest Club combines a golf course with a swimming pool, tennis courts, and clubhouse. Otter Creek Park in Meade County is one of the treasures of the Louisville and Jefferson County Metro Parks system, providing 2,600 acres of first-rate outdoor experiences.

The highly developed cultural and entertainment amenities in the Louisville metropolitan region remain close at hand, including dazzling venues, fine museums, world-class horse racing events, and regional shopping malls. Within Meade County, Brandenburg serves as the host of special events at its wonderful Ohio Riverfront Park, including the summer concert series, the award-winning Meade County Fair, the Christmas by the River Drive Thru and Christmas by the River Festival.  The housing options range from historic homes shaded by lovely old trees to vibrant new construction on wooded acreage or riverfront view properties. Horse properties, quaint farmhouses, and country manors are all possible in this land-rich region that combines the best of country living with easy access to urban advantages.
