Situated on the High Plains of Texas in the southern section of the South Plains, rural Lynn County lies just to the west of the Caprock Escarpment. Covering 915 square miles, this region features sandy loam and black/grey soils along with a growing season of 217 days that support large-scale cotton farming and ranching. These expansive flatlands are interrupted only by an occasional draw or playa and two year-round bodies of water: Double Lakes and Tahoka Lake. Serving as the seat of government and leading population center, the city of Tahoka is also the commercial and economic hub for residents of the surrounding rural region.

Tahoka is only 30 miles south of Lubbock, offering a quiet country home and an easy drive for commuters to metropolitan employment centers. Lynn, along with Crosby and Lubbock counties, is encompassed within the Lubbock Metropolitan Statistical Area. Major thoroughfares that serve the county include U.S. Highways 84, 87, and 380. Commercial airline services are available in Lubbock at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport.
