Nestled in the northern “hills” section of the state, Tate County is ideally located along Interstate 55 for an easy 40-miles commute to Memphis, Tennessee. This rural county is rich in available land for new-home construction as well as business and industry, yet it remains at a comfortable distance from urban traffic and crowds. The list of manufacturers in Tate County is a lengthy one, adding the strength of diversity to the regional economic base. Planners are anxious to continue drawing quality development to the area, which is already home to two very unique facilities. The Nat G. Troutt National Guard Readiness Center in Senatobia was the first of its type in Mississippi when it opened in 2001 and serves as home to approximately 200 National Guard soldiers. The Baddour Center provides a different kind of residential haven, one for intellectually disabled adults who are able to build productive, fulfilling lives in a group setting. Sprawling over 120 lush acres of beautiful rural countryside, the center provides specialized programs and services to more than 170 residents. One of these rewarding programs is “The Miracles,” a touring choir from the Baddour Center that appears in venues both large and small.
