Hike or Rock-Climb in Paradise
Newcomers to this region will discover thousands of acres of public lands in one of the most naturally beautiful areas in Arizona, the West, and the nation. More than 20 recreational facilities in the Prescott National Forest are available within minutes of downtown Prescott, including an equestrian facility for campers with horses. This area is also famous for its rock-climbing opportunities, crowned by the 7,600-foot Granite Mountain Wilderness that boasts some of the most challenging climbs in the nation. Hiking enthusiasts can explore miles of trails throughout the Prescott area, from the nature trail in Thumb Butte Park to backpacking trails in the nearby Sycamore Canyon Wilderness. Both the regional US Forest Service Office and the Prescott Area Chamber of Commerce will be happy to provide trail maps and answer your questions:
