Nestled in the Finger Lakes Region just 15 miles from Rochester and 60 miles east of Buffalo, beautiful Livingston County offers an idyllic place to call home. Attracting a growing business and industrial community, the county also serves as a hub of tourism with natural and developed attractions and amenities. Western New York’s only north/south expressway, Interstate 390, ensures easy access to major thoroughfares including Interstate 90 and the Greater Rochester International Airport.

Services
Outstanding access to premier educational opportunities is a hallmark of Livingston County, beginning with well-managed public schools districts and several private schools. The county proudly hosts one of the finest public liberal arts colleges in the nation, the State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo—often called the SUNY Honors College. With a beautiful 220-acre campus nestled in the heart of an historic village, SUNY Geneseo draws students from across America and abroad. Extremely selective in its enrollment, SUNY Geneseo is nationally ranked for both quality and value, including an undergraduate research grants program that allows students to engage in top-level projects with faculty members. The $53 million Integrated Science Center houses the only pelletron particle accelerator in western New York and the college is a national leader for students entering STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields. Residents of Livingston County also enjoy easy access to nearly 20 public and private colleges and universities within a reasonable commute from home—many with national rankings.

Healthcare services and facilities are equally impressive, anchored by Noyes Health and the Nicholas H. Noyes Memorial Hospital in Danville Village. With the slogan of “quality care, close to home,” Noyes Health maintains a patient-focused community hospital atmosphere that offers the finest of clinical care to residents of the county and surrounding areas. In addition to the full-service acute-care hospital, the system operates Noyes Health Services and the Kidney Disease & Dialysis Center. Medical services range from routine to specialized and include emergency care, after-hours care, prenatal and birthing, cardiology, an infusion center, advanced imaging, rehabilitation therapies, respiratory therapy, the Saunders Surgical Center, a sleep lab, and hospice. Should the need for highly specialized diagnostics or treatment be indicated, Greater Rochester is home to highly respected and nationally ranked hospitals and medical systems. Recognized among America’s leading health organizations, the University of Rochester Medical Center operates facilities at Strong Memorial, Highland, and FF Thompson hospitals. Strong Memorial Hospital is consistently recognized by U.S. News and Report as one of “America’s Best Hospitals.”

Lifestyle
Consistently ranked among the top of the list of America’s healthiest counties, Livingston draws newcomers to an unparalleled quality of life within the Greater Rochester region. Outdoor enjoyment is available around the four seasons in breathtakingly beautiful parks and preserves, including Stony Brook and Letchworth State Parks. Spanning 14,000 acres along the majestic Genesee River, Letchworth is often called the Grand Canyon of the East and one of New York’s crown jewels with stunning scenery, miles of trails, swimming pools, and other recreational facilities. First-rate golfing is available on nearly a dozen courses, while boating and water sports are popular on lakes Conesus and Hemlock. One-of-a-kind festivals and celebrations fill the calendar with events that draw thousands of visitors, including the famous New York State Festival of Balloons in Dansville. When the snow falls, residents enjoy ice-skating, tubing, sledding, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. The Genesee Valley Greenway Trail runs north and south throughout the entire county for hiking, jogging, and cycling against a backdrop of natural beauty.

Cultural enrichment is enhanced by the presence of SUNY Geneseo with its resident Finger Lakes Opera company and the Limelights & Accents Performing Arts Series of top performers and entertainers. The visual arts are celebrated on the campus in exhibits of contemporary local and national artists at Lederer Gallery. Other stellar attractions near home include the Genesee County Museum, Mount Morris Dam, the National Warplane Museum, the New York State Fish Hatchery, and the New Deal Art Gallery. The latter is located in Mount Morris and showcases more than 200 works of art from the Great Depression that were commissioned by President Roosevelt’s Works Progress Administration. The arts are strongly supported throughout the county, where the Livingston Arts association promotes local artists, cultural activities, and special events. Within an hour’s drive, residents can enjoy amusement parks and zoos, art centers, historical museums, science museums, symphony, theatre, Broadway productions, nightclubs, professional sports action, and a diverse culinary scene. Affordable, quality housing combines with friendly communities, abundant green space, and an average 22-minute uncongested commute to make Livingston County a home like no other.
