Situated southwest of Hennepin County and Minneapolis, beautiful Carver County offers a scenic terrain dotted by sparkling lakes. During the last two decades of the 20th century, the county was the third fastest-growing in Minnesota behind Sherburne and Scott counties. In spite of this brisk and continuing development, Carver County remains the least densely populated county of the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area, offering wide expanses of undeveloped land. Newcomers will find a panoramic region that effortlessly harmonizes small-town charm with easy access to urban conveniences.

Single-family homes dominate the county’s communities, representing nearly 90 percent of the housing starts since 1980. The lion’s share of new homes built since 1990 appeal to those in the upper-middle income brackets, and Carver County claims one of Minnesota’s highest per capita income levels. Growth of business and industry is equally impressive, ranking among the strongest of the counties is experiencing rapid expansion of non-farming industries such as retail-wholesale trade and services. Manufacturing also represents a significant segment of the regional economy.
