Adams County is located on the northern tier of the Denver metropolitan area, approximately 15 mile from the downtown district. Considering the area’s mixed-use characteristics and demographics, Adams County leads the metro area in diversity. The southern and eastern parts of the county are dotted with agriculture and flourishing industries, while the more heavily populated northern communities are home to beautiful office and business parks. Particularly in its eastern stretches, Adams County still supports ranches and farms.

High-tech companies and services thrive in this northern section, evidenced by the largest employer, Alcatel Lucent Technologies. In fact, the Boulder-Denver corridor of U.S. Highway 36 has evolved into a high-tech research corridor where electronics firms are involved in cutting-edge industries like robotics and biotechnology. The growth and development that has marked this area is difficult to comprehend, although the change in population gives a glimpse. The population in 1945 was 45,000. By the late ‘90s, a seven-fold increase sent the census soaring to 315,000.

Services
North Suburban Medical Center in Thornton, St. Anthony North Hospital in Westminster, and Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton combine with leading health-care institutions in the Denver area to provide state-of-the-art services to area residents. In one of the healthiest states in the nation, wellness and community programs abound. Major highways and easy access to Denver International Airport ensure a quick and easy trip to key destinations as well as enjoyable commutes. RTD buses and light rail service offer carefree mass transit options for metro travel.

Adams County operates five quality school districts that provide a quality education to area youth. The flexibility of open enrollment allows parents to select the school of their choice when space allows, and charter or private schools ensure even more options. Opportunities for higher education range from two-year institutions like Front Range Community College in Westminster or Red Rocks Community College in nearby Arvada to a number of public and private colleges and universities throughout the metro area.

Lifestyle
While the wealth of cultural attractions and events in nearby Denver could fill every day of the year’s calendar, Adams County residents can access impressive amenities just around the corner from home. The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities in Arvada is nationally recognized for its outstanding theater, concerts, dance, galleries, and historical museum. The center also offers classes or workshops in ceramics, dance, writing, acting, visual arts, and other creative expressions. While the greatest portion of Arvada is located in neighboring Jefferson County, the city actually sprawls into Adams County as well.

The availability of green space, parkland, and recreational facilities is of prime importance to Adams County residents and planners. With Front Range vistas forming the backdrop for many homes and businesses in this region, alpine sports and pleasures are always close at hand for weekend getaways or longer vacations. Housing options in Adams County range from sprawling ranches to cozy bungalows, historic homes, or the most striking of new construction on a spacious and secluded lot. The only challenge in livable Adams County is narrowing down the choice of lifestyles and environments that are waiting to be explored and enjoyed.
