Services
Newcomers will be pleased to find a network of quality healthcare facilities and services that are anchored by Carson-Tahoe Hospital, serving Carson City since 1949. Recently renovated to expand its obstetrics, pediatrics, and surgical areas, the hospital offers a wide variety of routine and specialized care including the Carson Rehabilitation Center. Community outreach and education programs include nutrition counseling, CPR classes and wellness programs, home health and hospice, and physical therapies. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency care, an ambulatory infusion center, and an oncology department. For most minor healthcare needs, the Allied Family Urgent Care center treats patients without a prior appointment. The Sierra Family Health Center also provides urgent care as well as family care with extended evening and weekend hours. The multi-provider clinic is operated by Nevada Rural Health Centers. Sierra View Urgent Care includes a laboratory, X-ray suites, and a trauma room.

Educational opportunities are abundant in the Carson City area, beginning with a respected public school system. Western Nevada College maintains a campus in Carson City and ensures that students of all ages can access an affordable higher education. Lifestyle
On the verge of a major expansion with the construction of a new freeway that will provide a “ring road” by 2011, Carson City is a community brimming over with historic charm yet fully embracing 21st century progress. Expansion of the regional bus network and exciting new plans for cityscape enhancement are just two of the upgrades and improvements in the plans for Nevada’s Capital City. Little wonder that civic planners are pursuing a grand vision for the future considering the richness of the past. What was once the dusty center of a growing frontier town is now lush with native plants and stunning architecture. Highlighted by the 130-year-old grand Capitol Building, modern Carson City features a picturesque and impressive capital campus with a legislative building, a supreme court, and a state library and archives. Residents and visitors alike enjoy the many displays and exhibits in outstanding venues like the Nevada State Museum with its life-sized ghost town and silver mine, the Nevada State Railroad Museum, and the Northern Nevada Children’s Museum. For another taste of the “Old West,” visit nearby Virginia City.

Recreational opportunities are first-class in this geologically diverse area, including nine incredible golf courses that bear the signatures of names like Arnold Palmer, Johnny Miller, John Harbottle, and Peter Jacobsen. The cultural and recreational attractions of the Lake Tahoe region are less than 35 minutes from home for world-class snowboarding and downhill skiing. The Mt. Rose Wilderness is ideal for horseback riding or hiking through aspen groves, meadows, and pine forests. Nearby Spooner Lake is encircled by a dirt path to showcase one of the most diverse ecosystems in the area. Well-equipped parks and picnic areas are available within the city as well, including tennis courts, wonderful picnic areas, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, athletic fields, and playgrounds. Fans looking for high-speed thrills go to Champion Speedway, while those who are looking for Lady Luck visit the glittering casinos. Carson City is garnering national attention for its exceptional quality of life, ranked among the top 20 best “micropolitan” areas in the nation. Newcomers are discovering what Carson City residents have always known: Housing is affordable, the surrounding mountain views are breathtaking, and few places offer such a kaleidoscope of entertainment and recreational attractions.
