Lyon County is nestled in the heart of the Mason Valley, easily accessible to the Nevada State Capital, Carson City. Mason valley area is surrounded by several mountain ranges and is located in a high desert area. This area is also a 90 minute drive from the internationally famous Lake Tahoe recreational area, where one of the world’s most beautiful lakes is surrounded by the splendor of the Sierra Nevada and Pinenut mountains. Dayton is known for its beautiful high-desert setting, its historic past, wonderful location, and its proximity to the wonders of Northern Nevada and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. To top it all off, Carson river flows right through the center of the downtown. Dayton is located close to the historic town of Virginia City, Nevada’s state capitol – Carson City and the City of Reno.  The city is home to an Arnold Palmer championship golf course and an airpark with a more than 5,000 foot runway. The downtown of Dayton still holds on to its history as a Nevada mining town, with an easy going lifestyle that reflects an earlier time. Silver Springs is located at the junction of US 50 and 95-A, in the area of Lyon County known as the Churchill Valley. It is bordered by Lake Lahontan to the east with the Dead Camel Mountains in the background and Churchill Butte dominates the scenery to the southwest. This gives Silver Springs breathtaking scenery in almost every direction of the compass.  This region is steeped in the history of Northern Nevada and the gold rush days.  There is a simpler way of life that can be seen and felt in the area.  Silver Springs is surrounded by entertainment and recreational activities ranging from boating, water skiing, and snow skiing, camping, hunting, and fishing to golfing. The Lyon County seat, Yerington is a town of more than 3,000 residents located along the banks of the Walker River in the Mason Valley an area surrounded by picturesque mountains – all in the high Nevada Desert. The town is home to a traditional and historic downtown that is the heart of the activities in the area. It is home to several restaurants and shops, casinos and offers residents a place to gather and be neighbors. The area is full of history such as ghost towns and mining camps from the 1800’s gold rush days. Its location in northern Nevada’s high desert means that there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities like rock climbing or rock hounding, hiking, camping, mountain bike trails, fishing and hunting. Lakes Lahontan, Topaz, Tahoe, Pyramid and Walker are all nearby and offer enthusiasts fishing, swimming, boating and water skiing. The east and west Walker Rivers are located just south of Yerington and are excellent fishing rivers.
