TAX AND LICENSE / PET LICENSES

Arizona requires annual licensing of all dogs over four months of age, although specific pet control regulations are also developed by counties and municipalities. In Yavapai County, dogs must always wear collars unless they are used to control livestock. Dog are not allowed to roam freely and must be restrained at all times with the exception of vehicle transport. New residents have 30 days to comply with rabies vaccination and registration. Although cats are not licensed, rabies vaccinations are strongly recommended. Newcomers to Arizona must also be aware of the extreme heat that builds up in parked vehicles where temperatures can climb to lethal levels in few minutes. Never leave pets or children unattended.
