Yancey claims the highest elevation of any county in North Carolina, with Mt. Mitchell peaking at 6,684 feet. The leading town of Burnsville is situated at a comfortable 2,815 feet, surrounded by dramatic vistas and located just 35 miles northeast of Asheville for easy access to a world of attractions.
