Consult your local school district for the cut-off date in which a child must be five years old to register for kindergarten. To register your child, bring the child’s birth certificate and social security number as well as proof of residency in the school district. This can take the form of dated and signed deeds, rental contracts, tax statements or bills, address on drivers license, and utility bills. Registration is not complete without physician-signed verification of immunizations for tetanus and diphtheria, polio, measles, rubella, mumps, Hepatitis B, and varicella. A physical exam may also be required. Transferring students must furnish prior records or contact information for previous schools attended. Guardians must also furnish legal custody documents.
