TAX & LICENSE / HUNTING & FISHING LICENSES
Both hunting and fishing are popular sports in the Rocky Mountain region, where 6,000 miles of streams and more than 2,000 lakes and reservoirs combine with nearly 700 species of wildlife. Colorado offers fishing without a license the first full week in June each year, although all other regulations and laws apply. During the rest of the year, licenses are required. Hunters who were born on or after January 1, 1949, must successfully complete a Hunter Education Course before they can be licensed. Fees for fishing and hunting licenses vary with the applicant’s age, residency status, duration of the license, and type of license. Licenses for children are available at a nominal cost.
