TAX & LICENSE / PET LICENSING

Kentucky Pet Laws
The Commonwealth of Kentucky does not mandate a state license for dogs, although cities and counties impose their own regulations. The state does require that every dog, cat, and ferret be vaccinated against rabies before the pet reaches the age of four months. Dogs must wear metal tags that correspond to the vaccination certificate; cats and ferrets are not required to wear tags but the owners must be prepared to show proof of a valid rabies vaccination upon request. For more information about licensing and pet regulations in Kentucky, contact your municipal or county animal control officer. The Kentucky Humane Society is another valuable source of information:

Indiana Pet Laws
Indiana law requires that all dogs, cats, and ferrets older than three months be vaccinated against rabies and each year thereafter. Animals entering Indiana must have received a vaccination within the previous 12 months. Local and county governments may impose even stricter standards and are responsible for annual licensing of pets, so consult your municipal or county offices for more specific guidelines.
