Virginia regulates hunting and fishing through the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF). The department sets hunting seasons, bag limits, and license fees according to your residency status, the type of license, and the duration of the license. First time hunters and hunters from 12 to 15 years of age are required to complete the hunter education course prior to receiving a license. The department offers extensive educational programs including hunter safety education programs and provides publications on request. Watercraft registration forms are available from VDGIF offices, boat dealers, and hunting/fishing licensing agents but they are also online for downloading and printing. Title, registration, and license plates for watercraft trailers are purchased through the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. For more information, contact:
