TAX & LICENSE / HUNTING & FISHING LICENSES

Nebraska and Iowa both require licenses for fishing and hunting. Fees and regulations vary with the type of game, the duration of the license, and your residency status. Licenses or permits are required for anyone 16 years of age and older in order to fish public waters in Nebraska and Iowa. In Nebraska, hunters born on or after January 1, 1977 must successfully complete a Hunter Education course offered by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. This cut-off date for Iowa hunters is January 1, 1972, and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources also offers such courses. A wealth of information and certain licenses are available online.
