With its economic success historically rooted in mining, farming, and manufacturing, today Hall County enjoys a steady and prosperous diversification of growth. Hall County ranks as the wealthiest non-metropolitan county in Georgia and the 27th wealthiest in the nation. The county generates over $145 million in poultry related products and services annually and is home to more than 30 Fortune 500 firms. With Hall County leading the way, Georgia has been one of the top poultry producing states in the nation since 1957. Recent additions to the industrial base include several manufacturers of automotive components, such as wheels, power steering pumps, and electric motors, and manufacturers of automated sewing equipment.

Hall County is located in northeast Georgia and lies at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Hall County’ six incorporated municipalities include Gainesville, Oakwood, and Flowery Branch. While only an hour from Atlanta, Hall County maintains its own identity as a regional center for shopping, medical services and educational opportunities. Culture and history are represented in Hall County by the The Quinlan Arts Center, the Gainesville Civic Theatre, The Green Street Historic District, and The Arts Council Inc. Educational facilities include two public school systems, five private schools, one college, one university, and one vocational-technical school.

Services
With campuses of Gainesville College and Lanier Technical Institute located in Oakwood, students are just a short drive from their pursuit of a higher education. In combination with Brenau University, these schools provide an impressive range of two-year, four-year, graduate, and vocational programs.

Likewise, the public schools in Hall County are known for their quality programs and outstanding achievements. The Hall County School System boasts strong gifted and special needs programs, state-of-the-art technology labs, and integrated computer labs. The Gainesville City School System ranks above average in many programs as well.

The county is also home to Lanier Park Hospital, an acute-care facility in Gainesville, and the Northeast Georgia Health System’s Northeast Georgia Medical Center. This highly recognized facility serves all 20 metro counties with 300 beds and a comprehensive range of medical services.

Originally known as Mule Camp Springs, Gainesville is named for Army officer General Edmund P. Gaines. Chartered in 1821, Gainesville is the largest incorporated city in Hall County and serves as the county seat. Modern Gainesville is a family community as seen by the number of fine schools, outstanding medical facilities, recreational opportunities, and abundant shopping centers. Six local industrial parks in Gainesville are now home to more than two dozen Fortune 500 companies and 35 international firms representing 11 countries. Residents also find housing stock plentiful. Distanced from the bustling metropolitan area, Gainesville is comfortably situated 50 miles northeast of Atlanta.
