Rural Page County nestles in the Shenandoah Valley between the Blue Ridge and Massanutten mountains just minutes from Interstate 81 and 66 connections. The closest commercial airline service is available at the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport in Weyers Cave, although the area is approximately 90 miles from Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC.

Exceptional healthcare is as close to home as the town of Luray at Page Memorial Hospital—opened in 2014 as a $37 million state-of-the-art facility. This new 25-bed Critical Access Hospital expands local services from 24-hour emergency care to advanced imaging, surgical specialties, cardiac monitoring, rehabilitation facilities, a transitional care unit, and a direct connection to a multi-specialty outpatient clinic. Page County residents can also access primary and family care and preventative medicine at Sentara RMH Luray Health Services. Should the need for referral or advanced care arise, nationally recognized medical centers are close to home in Winchester and Charlottesville. Rated as one of Virginia’s top five hospitals by US News & World Report, the 445-bed Winchester Medical Center offers specialties that include a Level II Trauma Center and a Newborn Intensive Care Unit. Charlottesville is home to the flagship hospital for UVA Health System, a 570-bed Magnet® hospital with a Level 1 Trauma Center. UVA Hospital and UVA Health consistently earn top rankings in publications such as US News & World Report and national Top Doctor lists, garnering honors for superior nursing processes, quality patient care, and programs and specialties from orthopedics to UVA Children’s Hospital.

Residents of Page County also benefit from access to quality educational opportunities on every academic level, beginning with the Grove School Preschool Academy in Shenandoah through the Page County Technical Center and beyond. In addition to offering a wide variety of career and technical programs, Page County Technical Center provides dual enrollment options where high school students can earn college credits through Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC). Operating two campuses and educational centers including the Luray-Page County Center, LFCC offers 75 associate degree and certification programs. Nearly a dozen institutions of higher education are located within a 50-mile radius of Page County, including the private Eastern Mennonite University and James Madison University in Harrisonburg—ranked by US News & World Report as the Number 2 public masters-level university in the South. This fast-growing institution enrolls more than 1,200 students in 115 degree programs including a new College of Visual and Performing Arts. Charlottesville is home to the University of Virginia, an internationally recognized public-private research institution with highly ranked graduate programs that include the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, Curry School of Education, School of Engineering and Applied Science, School of Law, and School of Medicine.

Picturesque Page County is well known as paradise for outdoor enjoyment and recreation, from the heights of Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive to the underground splendor of Luray Caverns. Throughout the county, you can paddle the scenic Shenandoah River, explore backroad treasures, and walk or jog along the award-winning Hawksbill Greenway. The Blue Ridge Mountains are also ideal for camping, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, cycling, mountain biking, and rock climbing. Anglers have abundant options to pull in the big one from the stocked Hawksbill Creek, Lake Arrowhead, or the sparkling waters of the Shenandoah River. In addition to preserving one of the nation’s largest and most popular caverns, the Luray area offers championship golfing at Caverns Country Club and an amazing rescue zoo with educational programs. Home to more than 250 animals, the Luray Zoo is the only privately owned rescue zoo in Virginia.
