Covering 911 square miles, the region supports agricultural activity dominated by cotton, sorghums, wheat, corn, soybeans, sunflowers, cattle, hogs, and poultry. Major thoroughfares serving the region include U.S. Highways 62 and 82 and Texas State Highways 114 and 207. Recent revitalization efforts have given the downtown district a fresh, welcoming look highlighted by vintage lighting and benches shaded by greenery. With a regional reputation for boutiques that artfully repurpose or restyle antiques and rustic items, the city has also been recognized in Business Week magazine as a “Best Place for Entrepreneurs.” Other exceptional features of life in Crosbyton are good schools, a full-service library with access to the Texas Library network, and a long list of active civic and social organizations.
