The legacy of hometown pride, cooperation, and hard work that has always been the cornerstone of Levelland is immediately evident today in the beauty of its city parks and the vitality of its downtown district. The community has become well known as a “City of Mosaics” for the stunning works of art that adorn the sides of some of the most prominent buildings. The first of the Levelland mosaics, which is a 6000-year-old art form based on arranging colorful glass in various patterns, was created by a South Plains College professor and displayed on the exterior of the Fine Arts building. Services are exceptionally well-developed in Levelland thanks to the presence of a two-year college and comprehensive healthcare resources under Covenant Health Levelland. The local school system receives strong support from the community, particularly during football season when the entire town comes out to cheer on the local team. This welcoming city enjoys a strategic location near the center of Hockley County, and is well-served by U.S. Highway 386, Texas State Highway 114, and Farm Road 330.
