The lovely city of Creedmoor creates a fine blend of urban and rural living, combining easy access to the world-class amenities in the Raleigh-Durham area with a more relaxed pace and country pleasures. With more and more people building magnificent homes and relocating into the Creedmoor area, planners and residents agree in the preservation and protection of natural resources including the clean and healthy living environment. For example, in 2006 the city began requiring one active recreation space for every 35 acres of new housing subdivisions. Builders and developers are responsible for these shared facilities that include tot lots, swimming pools, basketball courts, and tennis courts. Lake Rogers is another scenic highlight in Creedmoor, covering 175 acres and serving as a raw water source for the city. The lake front offers sheltered picnic areas, a playground, concessions, pedal boats, a boat launch, and pier fishing.

Few towns in America have managed to retain the charm and visual appeal of Oxford, described as a pretty town with wide, well-shaded streets, sweeping lawns and elegant residences. Surrounded by thriving businesses and industries, Oxford still offers tranquil neighborhoods and the opportunity for vibrant new construction in a country setting. The central business and residential districts are on the National Register of Historic Places, lending a sense of place and true historic charm to the entire community. At the same time, some of the world’s largest operations are conducted from Oxford, including the home of a Revlon cosmetics plant and the largest roofing facility in the world. The city serves as the healthcare hub for the county and the home of Granville Medical Center. The Central Children’s Home of North Carolina, a residential home for abused and neglected children, is also in Oxford. Between Oxford and Henderson is the main campus for Vance-Granville Community College.
