TAX & LICENSE / PET LICENSING
Michigan state law requires that all dogs be vaccinated and licensed no later than four months of age. Re-licensing is required every first or third year according to the license type. Fines are imposed for ticketed pets without licenses. Wild or exotic animals need prior entry permit numbers. Licenses not only protect the community, they enable a stray or injured dog to be identified with the owner. For details on fees and regulations, contact the animal control officer in your community or county.
